I Am A Writer

I am a writer

I can create a metaphor for love

Out of a branch and a bottle cap

I can write fire into the sky, or even into ice

And although I don’t know how to help you, my friend

My characters give great advice

I have fought so many wars

I have lived so many lives

Constantly falling so deep in love-

Losing my virginity all the time

I am a writer

I never admit defeat

Though I’ve got ink on my hands and cloths

And paper stuck in my teeth

I am a writer

A keyboard monkey

I can gargle graphite

And spit out a figure of speech

Sorry mom and dad its true, this is who I’ve become

You’ve tried to teach me better

But I simply write best drunk….

Off of love or course!

I can say I just write as a hobby

I can say it’s just for fun

But my pencil almost never goes down

Even with the moon…wait what?

I am a writer

Hopefully I can write myself into a job

But all I need is rent

Because I wouldn’t have time to shop

I am a writer

I guess you could say it’s a dream

I am a writer

And I’m not ashamed to be
