I Am Trayvon Martin

This one is for my brothers

With the mocha skin and full lips

This one is for my sisters

With the kinky hair and big hips

This one is for everyone who represents Trayvon Martin

Always facing racial profiling

Can't even go in a store without someone else following

All of a sudden wearing a hoodie with a bag of goodies makes you a suspect

Oh I'm sorry! You're just tired of us "getting away" so you decide to inspect

You may think you are free

But justice will be served trust and believe me

You'll never be a free man in my eyes

You went and shot an innocent boy when the dispatcher told you to stay in the car

You're the monster that I dispise

Had the AUDACITY to crack a smile

Reality is gonna kick in soon

Just wait a while

So Trayvon I wear my hoodie for you

To show my respect for you

And your family too

Zimmerman wasn't man enough to use his fists

Instead he chose to shoot a bullet

Taking a risk

Not guilty...

NOT GUILTY?!

So I suppose the same people that killed Emmett Till weren't either

I lift my fist in the air in memory of you both

And I lift my voice to make this oath

I will never forget you or leave your name in the dust

Because I too am you

Your legacy will stay

That's a must

I am Trayvon Martin

My skin is just the same

I am Trayvon Martin

Don't judge me by how I look when you don't even know my name

I am Trayvon Martin

Does that mean I get followed next?

We are Trayvon Martin

Now we have to stand up and end this mess
