I am a proud 'Mom'

When summer came,

I wasn't sure if it would be, once again, the same.

Shy, quiet, watching you all have fun;

But that was okay, that's how it was done.

I came to realize, that if I stood back yet again,

Nothing would be want we wanted it to be, so then,

I tried a lot harder and became so much more attached.

Everything I did was for us, it seemed like we were all the perfect match!

Three days of heaven came and passed,

And now school was coming up fast.

Our studies were tougher than the summer breeze,

And our 'family' was expanding but the connection was at an unease.

Fear swept through me and I was afraid to lose what I had just gained,

All the negative emotions that had once controlled  my life were knocking on my door, waiting to drive me insane.

Whether if it was a wish upon a star or a toss of a penny.

We were no long many, but one big, disorganized, family.

With three 'Moms' and maybe a 'Dad',

This diverse family has no room to be sad.

But even if we are there is so much support,

Ranging from jokes and laughter to love and comfort.

I'm happy to say that I am a proud 'Mom',

Of all my Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have come so far along.

Without you all I would not be who I am today,

So I have one last thing to say,

"Be there for each other through it all,

Some people can have a hard fall.

Be kind to those who are new,

You don't know what they have been through.

Always keep an open mind,

No matter how much you may want to be blind.

Because without compassion, kindness, and being able to understand,

So many people would slip unnoticed through our hands."
