I Am Polychromatic

I am sky blue:

The enticingly flaky polish that

My restless nails mutilated

In an anxious fit of obligation.

I am beige:

The monochromatic homes across

This Levitt-Town that I

Discontentedly occupy.

I am crimson:

The glossy hollow wooden frame

With quivering strings

My calloused fingers press to sing.

I am yellow:

The four walls overwhelmed with posters

Inside I hide

Pretending I’m in 1969.
