I am not
I am not the darkness of my skin
I am not the clothes i am in
I am not the nappieness of my hair
I am not the shoe size I wear
I am not black
I am not white
I'm what God created
Isn't that alright?
No its not because
You see me,and become afraid
especially at night
cuz then im just a
scary menacing dark sight
my color is what I am
not who I intend to be
I wish they could see
That theres so much more to
me
You look at me
and think I do weed
You would never think
that all i do is read
you look at me
and think I do
crack
You see my imperfections
and the qualities I lack
You look at me
and lock your car
You are leaving
a permanent scar
inside God made
us all the same
So why do I
Feel this shame
inside my beautiful
coal colored skin
No I shall shame no more
Because I am not
My skin
I am not
The clothes Im in
I am not
The nappyness of my hair
I am not
The shoe size I wear
I am not
"Black"
I am not
''White"
I am what God made To me that's alright
I am what God made To me that's alright
