I Am More Than One Word

“Intellectual,

But average.

Brilliant,

But dull.”

I am individual,

I am a fighter,

And I damn well am a woman with a voice.

No single word can describe me,

I am a dictionary of powerful words.

A woman.

A woman with aspirations that have been shut down,

A woman who has been told my dreams are unachievable because I am

A kid.

“You’re just a kid!”

But kids can change the world.

The future.

I am the future, and I hold this fate in my hands,

I am the fighter who made it through every day.

I am the opinionated one who always argued their views.

Loud,

Only because I want to be heard

And I will be heard.

Don’t tell me to close my lips and bite my tongue because I can’t!

I have the power in my hands to make a change,

I will risk my life for equality, I will risk my skin to be heard over all the noise.

I am a risk-taker.

I am a fighter.

I am a leader.

I am an activist.

I am a woman who cannot be described in one word.

You can’t describe a human with a dream in one word.

Dreamer isn’t enough.

I am so much more than that.

I am an achiever.

I am a builder of communities.

I am alone.

Alone with my voice,

But if I scream loud enough,

Someone will hear.
