I Am More

Location

What defines me cannot be found in a dictionary

Flipping the pages until you reach the J's then filling in the blanks -o, -e, -y,

Does not mean a word sentence definition is the sum of all my parts

I am more than the four letters that spell my name

More than the two syllables you learned to count by how many times your jaw hit your hand

No do not pretend to understand who I am when you offered two minutes to dissect my diction

What defines me cannot be found in a dictionary

When looking at my colors, get rid of that ROYGBIV mindset

Instead pull out a color wheel

Observe the different tones and different hues

Realize that the seven colors of the rainbow do not create my entire spectrum

I cannot be grouped by my appearance the way colors are when forming color palettes

Do not tell me I am red when I know you are colorblind

When looking at my colors, get rid of that ROYGBIV mindset

Unlike words in a thesaurus, I have no synonyms

Who I am has no place being compared to who others are

My characterisitcs belong to me the same way yours belong to you

Minor traits can be shared, but this does not support that I am the same as someone else

Stop searching for words that are better than me to make the essay you call life more appealing

Quit scavenging for a better me than me; I promise there is no other

Unlike words in a thesaurus, I have no synonyms

Fold the map, put it in the dashboard

Do not merely look at me and believe you have the directions to navigate my maze of complexity

Stop staring at others preconceived knowledge of who I am

A compass will not give you the directions needed to navigate these dirt roads

Look out the window, look at who I am rather than what I appear to be

Look at the personality inside of me; no one visists places to take pictures of their maps

Fold the map, put it in the dashboard

I am more than what my pictures show

The filter may remove some of my physical traits but it also filters out my personality

A picture is worth a thousand words

I am not worth a thousand words

I am worth much much more than that

Borders of wood may frame my pictures, but my appearance does not frame who I am inside

I am more than what my pictures show

I am more than definitions of words

I am more than just the plain colors of the rainbow

I am more than what is compared to me

I am more than my outward appearance

I am more than what my pictures show

I am more.
