I am me

I Am Me

A strong independent black woman.

Made up of melanin and dark brown honey eyes. I am me

From the color of my skin to the texture of my hair.

Black is beautiful anywhere. I am me.

I set goals. I am beautiful. Not judgmental

Making people understand. Black is me, I am me.

Being told that your lips are too big for your face

Or that you are "too white," even for your own race. I am me.

Always having to worry about the way I look with certain clothes on

Setting the days I have to put a different face on. I am me

Goals are hard to make when i'm silent all the time.

Well no more, I am me and black is mine.
