I Am Limited By Society

I feel limited

Weighed down, stopped by society

They say as an American

I’m free, but free isn’t “Free”

I am constantly limited the First Amendment

I’m granted the freedom of speech

But even my speech is limited

Speak out against a majority

Speak out against socially acceptable things

You’ll see just how limited you really are

They say this is the “Land Of The Free”

But do you really feel free?

Do you agree with everything that’s being done?

Of course you don’t

Want to speak out?

Feel as if you deserve that right?

Ha! Go ahead see what happens

Keep up that attitude

You’ll be put in jail

But all that really is…

Is another way to yet limit you again

You can’t speak your mind in jail

You can’t speak your mind in school

You can’t speak your mind in public

Ha! I’m underreacting

Look at Paula Deen

You can’t even speak your mind in your house

American has limited us so much

We Americans can’t even speak our mind

In the comfort of our home

Absolutely every day the freedom of speech

Is limited

Slowly but surely its grown worse over the years

New laws are being passed

Laws that limit us even more

You can’t hardly say anything nowadays

No matter what you say it seems

You’re politically incorrect

Even when you’re a child

You hear don’t say this

Don’t say that

I’m beginning to wonder what I can say

Society is limiting my freedom of speech

This is so limited it’s like there’s

An alternative motive

A motive to limit me so much

That I become a cookie cutter person

When will someone stand up?

When will society be forced

To stop limiting my freedom of speech.
