I am a fighter

I fight a battle every day

Against my social anxiety (social phobia);

Some foe stands always in my way,

The foe is the fear of everyone’s judgment
The path ahead is never clear,
I have an idea of what I want to be,
I am going to be a photographer for the U.S. Air Force,
But will my anxiety stand in the way,
That is unclear

I must forever be on guard

Against the doubts of me not making it;

I get ahead by fighting hard,

Fighting keeps my spirit strong.

I am 17 and I am kind, caring person,

So why must I endure what I do,
The life I have is wonderful;

But my past is not
My parents had been irresponsible and for that I was taken away,
I was adopted by my grandparents back when I was 1,
I find myself pursing my talents regardless of my past,
No matter what the end I seek is;

My future is what I make it,

It matters not what my past was but what my future will be
Each day the fight begins anew,

But fighting keeps my hopes alive.

My friends keep me in check,

They help me through my troubles,
My grades are good and I am working hard,
My progress has been slow and hard,

I've had to climb and crawl and swim,

Fighting for ever stubborn yard;

But I have kept in fighting trim.

I have to fight my doubts away

And be on guard against my fears;

My dearest plans keep going wrong,

Events combine to thwart my will;

But fighting keeps my spirit strong,

And I am undefeated still!
