I Am .. Fat.

You are fat.”

That’s what they say.

“Your body is repulsive.”

That’s what they say.

“Your body is taking up too much space.”

That’s what they say.

“Your body will never fit the ideal body image of a real woman.”

That’s what they say.

“You shouldn’t wear that.”

That’s what they say.

Well, I say.

“From my jagged stretch marks to my potholes of cellulite, my body is glorious.”

That’s what I say.

“Does the roundness and sharp curves of my body intimidate you?”

That’s what I say.

“I will not sculpt my body into trying to fit the idea of a “real woman”, which was constructed by the harmful and sexist views of the patriarchy.”

That’s what I say.

“I will go outside in a two-piece bathing suit and flaunt my fatness for the whole world to see.

That’s what I say.

“I AM FAT! I AM FAT! I AM FAT! But I am much more than my weight, roundness, and fatness.”

That’s what I say.
