I Am Alive

I’ve healed from the curse you gave, but endless words flood my paper.

Lines I will never be strong enough to say in real time.

I feel your blade pressed in my flesh, but it empowers me to retaliate.

The power I never had then.

I feel fragments of you everywhere I am, but I am evidence that I lived.

I survived the likes of you.

I recognize that you weren't caught, but you acknowledged your actions.

It soils your soul with a heavy price, in this life, or the next.

I have cried alone at night, but my empathy blossomed.

Emotion is a powerful gift.

I feel silenced by your dominance, but I am growing taller than trees.

My voice cracks like thunder, empowering ears with great noise.

You killed everything I was, but you created everything I am.

I am a survivor, a force, a mentor, a sister, and a daughter.

A survivor with the voice of a million women.
