I AM FROM

I am from the city of bright lights & the Big Apple

I am from the Brooklyn Borrow, fast cars and fast shots

I am from place to place

I am from that Haitian good good

Creole, food, borillon, dir avek viyan

I am from education and limitless dreams

…I am from a broken love

Bad decisions… a man and a woman

… I am from his abuse… “Stop! Please! Don’t…”

I am from walking away

I am from the city of supposed Brotherly Love?

I am from blood shed for reasons unknown

Babies crying because of a life they were never shown

I am from Respect, Pride, and Values

The beat of the heart’s core

I am from an old soul

I am from a loud mouth, and quiet thoughts

I am from right and wrong

I am from broken friendships and crazy broads

I am from a broken heart and being a heart breaker

I am from “We Belong Together”

I am from creativity, voice, mind, and body, Actions!

Speak louder than my words
I am from Mohawks, long hair, short hair don’t care

I am from energy, running to see a brighter day

I am from a life that is yet to be lived

And a spirit that shall never die
