I Am

I am not a label

I am not what society has made me out to be

A lame, gay, degenerate wannabe

I am not a label

I am a person

I am imperfect, flawed, and jaded

I cry, I scream, I fight

I am a person

I am not my past

I am not the little girl who lost her innocence

To a boy who took advantage of her

I am not the girl who played with her imaginary friends

I am not my past

I am my future

I am the young woman who will go to college, live on her own, and find love with another woman

I am the independent activist who will make change in the world, however gradual

I am my future
