I am from

Poetry

I am from the forest

I run with bare feet

from campfire smoke

and good food to eat

I am from homemade

Halloween costumes

and the songs in the Dark

I am from a mother

who wraps me in her arms

and says it will be alright.

I am from a hand held tight

fingers folded together as one

I am from New Orleans

from the music in my soul

I am from the love in the air

the sound of the ground

I am from the sea where

the wave crashes down.

I am me as only I can be.
