The Hypocrisy of Society

Girls are meant to be pretty and nothing more

For some, they must wear makeup in order to feel whole

They put on a full face for a simple trip to the grocery store

To conceal, brush, and blend the pain in their soul

With the beauty standards so difficult to obtain

Girls all over the world face challenges like no other

The tears that well up in our eyes are difficult to contain

The best we can do is lift up one another

True beauty comes from within

I'm sure you've heard all of that

Society says these things, but confuses "within" with "thin"

And uses that same mouth to deem girls ugly and fat
