Humor

Humor is the only thing

That is brave enough to reach its trembling hand into the shadows.

Its long finger beckons to me

"Come hither," it whispers

And before I can blink it has locked onto my wrist and fished me out.

I lay on the surface gasping for air as the waves of laughter roll over me

And for one joyous moment, I forget the pain that I have been feeling

And I have forgiven everyone on the planet

Including myself

And my smile is wider and my soul is joyous and

my brain is s i n g i n g

But just for a moment.

For a moment, humor has helped me transcend reality.

But Oh! What a wonderful moment it is.
