Humanity

Oh, the way I yearn

I yearn so deeply

For a world where we chose love over hate

A defining feature of humans— our love and care for each other

The first proof of humanity was a healed femur

We have cared, we can care

Our rich history

Tarnished by those who feel a sense of superiority

A false superiority— I almost feel sorry for them

I ache for them, in an odd way

An ache fueled by anger and despair

Humanity is wonderful

Beautiful, complex, intricate

It is foolish to dismiss us as inherently evil

We are inherently nothing, but the product of our environment

Tragically, our environment is vile,

disgusting

exploitative!

The byproduct of that delusional hierarchy

What could we have become if the path we took was instead love, not hate?
