Human Nature

The ambush was veiled with sparkling lights

It shimmered to all who looked upon it

They boasted of how it changed their sights

Walk through it and change your spirit

Glorified and loved is this veil

With this luster my eyes were once filled

Truth was even written, but in braille

I looked at the page with my hands concealed

As I have become ensnared

This so called incandescance is blinding me

I am being drowned with time spared

choking my throat in this sparkling sea

I stand on a pillar in a body of water

Jumping in is the "choice" I'm mandated to make

This bloodless society require I send myself to the slaughter

While the rest hide their thoughts, put on their smiles fake

Casting my eyes across this glimmering locker

I see everyone on their own lone pillar

Then I realize this is no shocker

We all saw this coming and we let in the killer

Indeed we cannot live without our own executioner

For without him, we will surely die

Sunless and full of failure will be our future

If we do not chain ourselves to his side

How did this come to pass?

You might find it amusing that the Whole of us

We put the poison in this glass

Thinking it would make creation progress

Now we are the fish caught in this net

But fear not, we wanted it that way

We wanted to catch ourselves in this cold sweat

Opression is our need, it's the thing for which we pray

How sick and sore my mind has become

With the shackles we lock on our own spines

How much I want to open my eyes and not hide behind numb

But how can anyone when we won't take off these glistening vines?
