How Do you Explain...

How do you explain

Depression

To someone who has never felt

Its smothering control

Taking over your mind

And making you believe that

You’re worthless

Though you are something to

Someone probably

But depression says otherwise

And existence seems futile

Because sometimes you’re

Set off by things

That are stupid

And all of a sudden

you’retrappedinaholeandyoucan’tescapeandnothingseemsbetterthanstayingthereandnevercomingout

And death

Calls your name

But that’s as futile as all of it

Combined

Because death is inevitable

And permanent

And then there’s heaven to worry

About

Heaven is eternal

You wouldn’t want that

And anyway

You don’t want to die

You just want to stop the pain and the

Anxiety and the

Fear and the

Sadness and

Everything else.

No, you don’t want to die;

You want to

Sink quickly into oblivion

Until you no longer exist

And you can

Stop all

Feeling.
