Hope

Proverbs 13:12

12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is like a tree of life.

Hope

In the body that I know well

Changes are in the making

Is it just age … who can tell?

It’s uncovered in what I’m faking

Desires that prey on lack of attention

And the hunger that directs its path

Hidden dreams not to mention

Which magnify what’s lost in aftermath

In formulas of my own making

Where sense has left long ago

Tender emotions are breaking

Every step on my lonely road

The more I add … the more I’m dividing

And when I subtract … I multiply

In thoughts and hopes … which are deciding

My next move … as I slowly die

Is this life … or just existence

Possibly a struggle between life and death?

For where there is hope there is persistence

For better days just ahead
