Him

My life was a paradise at one time

'till one day I comminted an unforseen crime.

My parents outcast me and so did some friends

Giving me no room to make my amends

But through this I never felt a regret

'cause the crime committed was "unholy duet"

Him.

He comforts me and takes me away

from the moment my life changed

the moment I uttered the words "I'm gay"

He loves me.

He held me through countless nights that I'd cry

Through the homeless days where I thought that I'd die

Inspiring, untiring, with patience galore

Introduced me to somewhere I'd be lonely no more.

While he was a him and I was as well,

I powered through the burning plains of hell

I worked and I toiled to find a safe place

His unwaivering help brought me to this time and space

There are others like me who recieve no assistance

Scared and alone with depleting persistence

My struggle, my community, and him

impacted me to teach those sinking to swim

His help and my journey have eternally shaped me

to a person who fights for those people who may be

lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans

or anyone under the rainbow flag.
