Highway Lights

As I speed down the interstate
the only thing I see is headlights and tailights
for miles.
Driving is a passion
that keeps me sane, helps me escape,
makes me smile.
Speeding along,
pressing harder on the gas
realizing that I'm going too fast
Spinning out of control
in these lanes of despair
It's too late
to begin to repair
The broken pieces of my life
that I've left in the lights
as they burn white hot
and turn to ash in the night.
