Hey, you!

Of the 250 million sperm,

Yours was chosen.

Out of the hundreds of available days,

Your parents decided to try that hour.

In that second,

you were chosen

That’s incredible

What’s even more incredible-

You grew.

You developed,

Ate,

Drank,

Kicked

Summer salted.

You became a living thing

You were then introduced to

a new environment

from a dark, cramped area

came air

came sunshine

came you taking your first breath

Then, you decided to keep going

You grew further

and made decisions

You developed character

a personality

morals

After awhile you changed

You lived a little more

and discovered new things

You invented new personalities

new morals

and you made tough choices that

wound up having consequences

but you kept living, and kept learning

You got

angry

sad

humiliated

and hurt

but you also became

happy

excited

forgiving

and

impressive

Some days, you may feel

unappreciated

lonely

lost

unloved

and want to die

just remember

on that day

you were chosen

From a single cell

To forty cells

to the size of a fingernail

then to an avocado

You grew into the person you are today

And that’s incredible
