Here I sit minding my own.
You stare at me because I sit here alone.
Harder you stare and then part your lips.
I put my head down still here I sit.
You say this seat is for a white.
And that I have to move because my skin is not light.
My skin is dark and beautiful ebony.
But because I’m black you think you’re better than me.
I put my head up and raise my eyes.
And say I’m not moving and still I sit.
You say it again as though I didn’t hear.
And I say it again I’m sitting here.
You think calling the police is going to change my mind.
Sorry honey but I will not decline,
My answer remains the same.
They grab me and put me cuffs,
Because I said enough was enough.
I dont regret what I did because I knew it was right.
I stood for what I believed and continued to fight.
