Her Ghost in the Fog

Thu, 05/02/2013 - 22:02 -- Yurai

In a dark dream that I couldn't wake up from, I heard the voice of a dead loved one calling me.
"Yurai..." she called in an ominous voice...wanting me to find her. Her voice trailed off and I woke in a cold sweat, flustered by the night terror. I rose from my bed and slowly crept towards my garden. I waded through the mist and stumbled into a dense forest where I heard...voices.
The muffled screams, sad whispers, angered jeers, all of women, then images. All of my kills, beautiful girls whose blood I drained, recreated in translucent visions...so horrible.
I saw her...my one true love; her satin dress covered in blood.
Was the fog tricking me? I didn't know, but I dropped to my knees as her spirit approached. I cried as she told me how much she missed me, and I watched as the blood trickled from the wounds in her neck. She no longer lived, just as I, both of us cold...dead to the world...living in perpetual darkness because of my insatiable lust for her sweet blood. I did this to her.
My tears, black as night, could not make up for the centuries of regret that I feel for murdering my love. This illusion must be a sign, but of what?
Am I meant to see her again? To kiss her... To hold her... To be with her for the rest of eternity? It all seems like a dream and it very well could be, but I'm tired.
Simply tired of living.
Her figure dancing in the misty sunlight was enchanting.
She wanted me to follow her. I needed not be afraid, I only needed to let the rays of the cursed sun eviscerate me. That was the only way, my love and I could die together...so I slowly walked into the sunlight and let the rays sear my flesh...
Together... At last.
