Helpless

Daniel 5:5-6

Belshazzar Sees Mysterious Handwriting on a Wall

At that very moment the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the royal palace wall, opposite the lampstand. The king was watching the back of the hand that was writing. 6 Then all the color drained from the king’s face and he became alarmed. The joints of his hips gave way, and his knees began knocking together.

Helpless

Graffiti in many colors someone painted on my heart

Its walls are covered with the frustration of the day

Subjects well recognized of depravity and parts

that came through the Fall ... explosive in many ways

Some faces are smiling accented by crying eyes

Blank stares into nothingness searching for a purpose

It will fade with time as do the reasons “Why?”

Fading in history’s only-ness not even scratching the surface

Many do pass by ... staring at the ground

Only at intersections so to wonder what way to go

Most don’t even try to hide the desperate sound

that boils from a heart where life is never known
