A Heavy Heart Praying for Justice

My heart is heavy for those I do not know.

I called off work because it felt so insignificant.

What good is money

when it feeds into corruption.

I feel ashamed of my passing thoughts of vanity

when families are being stripped of hope and dignity.

I will do my best to use my voice and donate,

yet I still feel useless as long as there is a Nazi in office.

I pray for change and for love to conquer all.

I know I am not alone.

I do not know how to keep on living.

My empathetic heart feels their loss and fear

even though these are pains I will never truly understand.

Today is a dark day,

The rains feel like the tears of the caged youth.

The cold caused by the bone chilling acts of injustice against our fellow human.

How has our nation grown so far away from compassion and unity.

When will freedom ring?

When will love win?

D-day came in the past,

So I know it is in our future

And on that day the guilty will burn.
