The Heart of a Lamb : Sonnet #1

Location

Heart-Lips.jpeg

Frost bitten lips hum distant lullabies

My skull shall not doze til dawn’s eyes ajar

Fore I cannot sleep without heaven’s sky

Shielding my psyche from villains afar

Crooks lurk in twilight exploiting hushed minds

Preying on vulnerable ignorant souls

But I shall not stray, by day I am bound

By night, it’s not I whom evil controls

Beneath daylight’s rays mercy’s warm hands hold

My weary anatomy, sleeping sound

Cognizance at ease, safety a bounty

Fore I did not stray, by day I am bound

Though nightfall may come, warrior I am

Passive strength lies in the heart of a lamb
