Heart Caught In The Breeze

She came in spring like a dandelion

Up through the cut green sea

Of ornamental life

With her arms above of her head

“Look at me!”

She seemed to say

With a smile that came from the earth

And ended beyond the stars

By the hand of the Gardner

She was bruised and bloodied

He saw only a weed—a flaw--

In the way she beckoned with a song

Trying to wrap her arms around the sun

And seize life

She came in spring

With a bittersweet wish

And fled into the breeze

Through pursed lips

Like a dandelion
