I hear the crickets chirping absent of rhythm.

I hear the clock ticking away the seconds.

I hear my blood pumping through my veins.

I hear the creaking of the swing outside.

I hear the purr of the cat lying serenely on the bed.

I hear my every breath as I inhale and exhale.

And I hear the rain pounding on the roof.

But, I cannot hear you.

And I do not want to.
