Hate

Location

Looking out towards our past

many would see

much that shouldn’t be.

From the simplistic action

to centuries of suffering,

a lot should have never been.

Yet when I look at history and at

all its mistakes and

regrets

I see the one thing

that caused it all.

Hate.

Hate has killed man

both metaphorically

and literally.

History is littered

with the tragedies of hate:

betrayals

murder

assassinations

genocide.

We are more

defined by that which

we wish to kill

than what we wish

to save.

If I had the power to change

I'd change us.

I'd ripped out the parasite

that is

hate

and show it

a species worth of

anger

sadness

and loneliness

in one final act of violence

that would close the book

on the bloody tale of man's

greatest downfall.
