Happy Memorial Day

"Happy Memorial Day!" cheers abound  While blood flooded streets pay for salvation  We drink, we eat, with bodies in the ground.  "Come Save Big Bucks!" stores seduce the nation   We laugh, we talk of how grateful we are  22 die at home to escape regrets.  We "don't see" the soldier laden with scars  "We honor the fallen, Bless the US!"   "Some give their lives" we say at the buffet  The age of those gone is too appalling.  Mothers weep, their child's future was torn away  We envision old men, heroes falling   So drink, pervert the day we should respect  Eat, ignorant of the cost to protect.
