Happiness Exposed

Location

I am exposed.

Here I am in my most pure form,

No filter.

No edits.

Not the best lighting,

or smile.

But it is mine.

I am exposed.

You can see my mothers smile lines behind my eyes,

My grandpa’s noes.

My scar from falling as a child,

My uneven two front teeth.

I am exposed.

My imperfections gleam

With nothing to hide behind,

No filter.

Nor edits.

No light.

I am exposed.

But so are my emotions.

Here I am in the most raw form, but I am happy,

I am holding the letter I have worked for and I didn’t even have time to pose,

Before a picture was snapped,

And I am smiling.

This happiness is exposed,

Natural.

With nothing to hide behind.
