Happiness
The scrawny man walks down the street
Casually to the jewelry store.
But before he gets there he is beat,
And his fat wallet is no more.
The first man had just wanted
To get a useless gift
For his beautiful wife,
He’d been working a double shift.
The second man, too,
Was of seemingly good intent,
Stealing to feed his little kids
And trying to pay the rent.
But as one of his kids was walking
With his scrap of bread for the day,
A bird swiftly swooped in
And stole that grand meal away.
As the bird sat on a bench
A stray cat stealthily pounced,
The bird’s neck he tightly clenched,
A Last Supper,
Before the dog’s presence was announced.
But then the dog
Caught in a metal vice,
The catcher’s leash dragged him away
To pawn him off for some odd price.
That man just had to sell the dog,
For he too had bills to pay.
He just had to make some extra cash,
For he was robbed the other day.
He sold the beast to another
Who bought it for his child,
For he was having a sad day
A bird had caused him to be riled.
So whenever you too
Are feeling out of luck,
Just know that things will come around
And soon you will no longer be stuck.
