Guide to Homelessness

You don't have to like your life

You just have to shut up and take it

You can't make eye contact

You don't want to make them uncomfortable

You have to look hurt and innocent

You can't tell them what you want the money for

You have to be gracious about every penny you get

You can't shout or pace or do anything that could make you seem deranged

You need to put your head down

You can't expect to be helped

You don't deserve anything if you don't give anything

You have to spend your money on short term happiness because there's no reason to invest when it's hopeless

You can't dream

You should use children as a way of gaining pity

You need to use pity to gain money

You need to use your body to gain money

You need to bottle up your shame

You need to throw all standards out the window

You can only enter stores that sell sex or drugs

You can't expect to be respected

You have to get used to children being afraid of you

You have to accept that parents will use you as an example

You can only cry when no one is watching

You need to learn to eat, shit, and sleep with the rats

You can't think about what could've been

You are the problem

You are going to die on these streets

You can't expect anything more

You can't dream
