Growing up was not easy

Growing up was not easy.
I had everything I ever needed, but it still wasn't easy.
I never felt like I was living in the skin I was born in.
I was always holding up a mask so my family wouldn't see my pain.
I've been praying all my life to have what grown ups have.
Love.
True love is what I wanted.
True love is what I needed.
I never thought I'd grow to have it.
I never thought I'd grow to keep it.
But then you came along, 21 years later and gave me what I have been praying for.
You never was scared of my darkness.
You never complained about my sadness.
You understood me when I couldn't understand myself.
Growing up will be easy
