Growing stronger

Luke 1:80       New King James Version

80 So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.

Growing stronger

Is my spirit capable of gaining strength and growth?

Is this indispensable to the mature in spiritual life?

How then to measure, and how will we really know?

Is it not by the fruit we bear, the spiritual fruit of Life?

How often do we sense that our spirit is not too strong?

Not strong enough to control my body, mind, and soul?

Is it not here, we wonder, or we‘re accepted and belong?

To reside in the hall of faith as that’s ultimately our goal.

When my soul is stimulated, and my body appears so weak,

And my stubborn will is a hindrance in doing what is right.

Confused, I stumble on, acting and appearing to clearly see

With undisciplined emotion doing what seems out of sight

“When I’m weak, then I am strong,” wrote the beloved apostle

How does that fit in my life unless I grow in spirit?

So there’s no excuse, and really not worth the hassle.

Unless I hunger for righteousness and do such inherit
