Growing Up

A friend once told me

To wake up early

And look up to the sky.

The golden sun would light up

The purple winds.

Revealing the hidden creatures above,

In their makeshift homes,

And then I’d feel calm.

The glacial mountains

Sway around the clouds,

Humming their tune.

On rainy days I’d see their clear parcels

Fight in the mud on the carport

Pushing black to the ground,

Purifying all below.

And if I’d have followed her advice

I’m sure it would have been nice,

I’m sorry I couldn’t.

I was just too fucking tired.
