Growing Up

At four it seemed so evident

that work was all that was extremely relevant

That the harder you worked and the more you earned

would bring satisfaction and happiness if thats what you yearned

but take it from a girl who never saw her father

all because he thought working harder

would set her for life and make her proud

he never imagined her mother would leave him somehow

Take this from a young women who cried all alone

feeling neglected because her mother was never home

to busy with work to see her or her brother

sadly people began mistaking her as his mother

Take this from a worker who once swore never to focus on money

but is now apart of something

a girl who wanted nothing more but to bring her family together

got pulled away further by the work all together

At eighteen it seemed that all of life was fading

becoming apart of a world where work was the best thing created

only to make family the last thing in your mind

kind of sad at eighteen im already out of time....
