GREETING WHAT'S DEFEATING

     I see the struggle

     I see the fight

     I see the might

     I see the strength

     I see the tears

     I see the fears

I get up

I get on

I move along

     I know I want better

     I know there is more

I know there is something greater in store

So I push through

I’m taking charge now

I won’t see   another move

                    another tear shed

                    another worn out bed

So I greet the day with a smile

Even meanwhile,

there’s mice being trapped

and roaches being killed,

in the kitchen where we cook all of our meals

on one purple pan

        All huddled around one fan

        Cause when the heat comes

you don’t know when it’ll end

        or when things will mend

        and then

        once again,

        things bend

        and we sit and pretend

        that we’re alright

        but what if we might

just be too tired to once again, have to fight

So we just hold

hold on

hold on to our will

Holding on don't get us very far

Can’t even buy us a decent car

    Action

    Risk

    Struggle

We go through it all just to get through to the end of the tunnel

What makes me get up and greet the day?

Just knowing one day

I may

STOP

STOP the poverty

STOP the pain

STOP the struggle

STOP the playing of the games

All to live and be free

All to live for me and we
