To Greet The Day

The alarm goes off another day to begin.

What makes me crawl out of bed?

Is it school, the place where I'm trapped for most of my day?

Or is it the will to fight, to live, to keep me from fading away?

As much as I want to cling to my bed,

The calm, the peace, the warm that comes with.

I drag myself out of my bed to greet the day.

Why do I do it?

I do it to live.

I have far too many people that care about me.

They care about me and I care about them.

So I get up to greet the day.

I fight a battle in my mind every day.

It's a battle many people know.

A battle against myself, a battle against depression.

But I get out of bed every day to face my fears.

I face the world my two feet firmly on the ground.

As much as I may want to fade away

I live for the people I love.

I greet the day for the ones I love.

I am strong for the ones I love.

To Greet the day is a difficult task

But that task,

I do everyday.
