Green Slate

Wed, 08/05/2015 - 23:55 -- thornes

People say that white is pure

But I have found that green

is far more unadulterated

Until now, I never noticed how

one color

could evoke so much fulfillment

It is not the absence of color

but rather the brilliance of life-

of struggle in rugged earth

and sprouting victorious on the other side-

that makes me believe that

the world is filled with wonder

tiny little happenings too small to see

then suddenly, there they stand

a tree twenty feet tall,

blades of grass blowing criss-cross

in the wind

giving to the world

without asking for much in return

Nowadays, when people praise the purity of white

I say they’ve never seen the color green

Our world
