Gratitude: Light for the Soul

Slam! Another closed door hits my face

Ouch! Yet another blow to my mind

Why the opposition?  The painful rejection?

Anger, fear, and disappointment swim in my mind

The ocean dark, full of dread

The waves overpowering, overriding all hope

Yet in this murky abyss my heart speaks to my mind

Count your countless blessings

Fill your soul with light

The light of gratitude, that shines so very bright

The light breaks through the darkness,

The abyss begins to dissipate

A sea of thanksgiving fills my once dark view

Water filled with joy, waves of love

Friends, family, memories

Leave no room for misery.

 Blessings are a wondrous gift

That warm the soul

Filling my mind and heart with simple, pure joy.
