Goodbye, Old Self

I never once considered the pain,

Of losing someone, but yet again,

I was so young, so naive, it's true;

So I never thought once of losing you.

I was then shown, at first hand,

That if I thought I was to land,

Back on my feet I had to choose,

Would I allow myself to grow?

Or would I cause my heart to bruise?
