Goodbye

Location

They’ve echoed in my memory

For what seems a century.

Being with you gave me laughter

I thought would never falter.

Our friendship was one in a million;

What happened was one in a billion.

A thief in the night came

And took you away to maim

At my heart;

It nearly tore me apart.

Now some time has passed

And the sadness did not last.

I could let my life pass me by,

But it’s time to say goodbye.

My dear friend, it has been a pleasure.

The time we’ve spent I’ll always treasure.
