Gone too Soon
Location
As he walks in,
He sits amongst his peers,
Everyone he knows
He known through the years
He speaks, "I know you are new, let me tell ya something that I know would help you get through.
My name is Emmit Till, my life wasn't great, yet I was strong willed.
I did what I was told by my mother, interracial dating was taboo
If getting through the day wasn't hard enough.
I walked by this young lady, not to fancy her at all.
She lied above all else, ended up in my fall.
He sits down, and a young man stands,
Raises his arms, and raises his hands
I was caught under suspicion
Was attending school wanted to be a electrician
Had a unborn daughter and a wife
I was missing
50 shots to my soul, the devil was busy
Yet God was with me , and what happened is beyond my control.
My name is Sean Bell, A old man in a young soul.
"Its your turn son", Sean says
My name would not mean anything to you.
I'm just a 17 year old son and nephew,
Victim to a behavior that's not so new,
I'm just a young man that had a whole life to live through
Hate is taught not learned
Peace in the world is what I yearn
Where I can walk down a street
And move to the beat of my own drum
A hoodie and snacks is not a validation for who I am
I have two strikes against me,
A black man
A success is what I strive to be
Now it ended up as a bitter memory.
He sits down and God stands up,
“You all are my sons, no matter what color you are,
I MADE YOU HOW YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO BE
you are MY BLOOD AND MY FLESH, YOU SEE.
You are my angels so fly away with me,
This place called heaven is where you need to be.”
