Golden Whispers

This empty feeling in my gut

Will it ever recede?

Or will it get the best of me?

We love to sin, they like to lie

But will you hide behind them?

The demons you confide in

Apparently I’m selling myself short

But I wasn’t, I was never sure

Where I stood with you

In the back of my mind

“It’s alright to not be fine”

This cold numbing feeling in my brain

Suddenly you don’t see me the same

Who do I have to blame?

When everyone I love forgets my name

The golden whispers in the wind

Dried up when I was just a kid

I gazed into those sullen eyes

Who am I kidding, it was never a surprise

That I’d turn out this way

Waiting for the leaves to decay

Apparently I’m insecure

But I wasn’t, I was never sure

Where I stood with myself

In the back of your mind

“It’s not alright to not be fine”

This cold numbing feeling in my brain

Suddenly you don’t see me the same

Who do I have to blame?

This poem is about:
Me
My family
