Goddess of light

"She said this is the world now"

'Twas all but a year ago,

The sky was dark, cold and silent.

Once there was nothing,

No light, no color, no emotions,

I had no emotions.

"She said this is no way to live"

Animals had no joy,

Dogs did not wag their tails, and cats did not purr.

Tree leaves would not blow.

Their color did not turn,

The ocean waves would not crash into the Cliffside below.

The sun would not shine,

The moon would not glow.

“She said hope for all that needed to be right”

Until, until! She came into my in life.

Now I don't care what the rumors say,

She was no alien,

Nor any religious figure's reincarnation,

No she was not the devil in disguise,

Nor an ill winged seraph that fell from the sky,

Even though she was as beautiful as one.

No one knows where or how she "arrived" in our city

Some say a blessing, a ufo, or a hundred other old wive tails.

But I simply say it was fate.

“She said there is beauty in nature"

With skin as soft and smooth as silk.

And a body of a goddess,

With eyes as dark blue as Poseidon's ocean home.

With hair as golden as the sun.

Holding a single fiery red rose,

And a voice that sounded of a symphony of angels,

All wrapped up with a personality as rich as mothers love.

With the humble name of Aly.

"And she said I am hope."

At that instant she arrived,

The world was reborn

And my life would never be the same.

"She said only if the world tries"

For when this goddess would open her eyes,

The moon began to glow and the sun began to shine

When she would speak,

The wind would begin to blow.

Wherever she would walk past,

The trail that followed her,

Would transpire to an assortment of vibrant life.

"And she said this is what the world could be"

It was at this moment,

There was color, there was light,

And there was emotion,

I had emotions.

The animals began to dance with joy,

The dogs began to wag their tails,

The cats began to purr.

The leaves began to turn into an array of colors,

Poseidon's deep blue oceans began to crash into the rocks like they had long, long ago.

"And she said you’re the worlds hope."

Then she walked up to me,

I just a peasant in the presence of a princess,

With the distinguishing features of a goddess.

She said hello what's your name?

My throat instantly began to choke up,

My hands started to shiver,

My heart began quiver,

Uh, um, mmm, Grant! Yes sorry my name is Grant.

She laughed and called me cute as she winked and bit her bottom lip,

"And she said this is what the world could be"

It was in this moment she kissed me,

Then she said "this is what the world could be"

All you have to do is want change.

I gripped her waning hand and said I want change.

Then she began to fade away into the air,

Just like that she was gone,

Along with the beautiful world that followed her.

Everything was dark, quiet, and emotionless

Like before except for a beautiful red rose,

That was sticking out of her golden locks of her hair.

Then I realized she had left something

She had left me hope,

Hope to change the dying world.

"Remember she said this is what the world could be"

Now I'm just a peasant,

Saving the world for a princess,

That I will never see again.

"And I replied this is what the world will be"
