God

Created in ‘His’ Image:

Humans are the ‘God’ You Know

Sharing much with the Being called ‘God’

Creating so much, good and bad

Using men to describe our messages

Intelligence, used to create, destroy, to learn

From our mistakes

Authority to dictate over those we deem inferior

Guiding those we believe in need

Altering lives, testing those we trust

Among the good, there is always evil

Contradiction plays its part

Our creation being only mythology

Yet all other myths are irrelevant

Making laws, yet breaking them

Killing killers for killing

Anti-adultery, yet spawning children out of wedlock

Redemption is possible, we say, as we

Confine those we deem criminals

Holding them captive in places of torture

To pay for their sins

Love thy enemy, but send your children to slaughter

Those who dare rebel

Destroy whole civilizations in one swarm

Because they have angered you

‘Aid the needy’ yet ignoring their pleas

Condemning suicide, yet sacrificing our children

For an incredible existence

That will never endure.
